My Story
My name is Corey Jones Jr., and I’m a proud native of New Orleans, Louisiana. I was born on January 24, and I’ve always been surrounded by love—especially from my mom and dad. Growing up, I saw both the joy and the challenges that come with living in this city. But through everything, family, faith, and community stayed at the center of who I am.
In February 2022, I experienced a heartbreak that changed my life forever—my mother passed away. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever faced. I was young, hurt, and searching for something to hold onto. But even in the sadness, I knew I had a choice: I could give up—or I could grow. I chose to grow.
In 2023, I joined a local program called Step Up Aim High. It helped me find direction and purpose. Surrounded by positive mentors and friends, I started to see that my voice mattered and that I could be a leader, even at a young age.
During that same time in 2023, I was blessed to meet three incredible classmates who changed my life—Kylee, D'Myri, and Lawrence. They didn’t just become my friends—they became my support system. They stood by me during the darkest moments after losing my mom, and they helped remind me that I wasn’t alone. Their kindness, their laughter, and their belief in me played a huge part in my healing. I truly believe I wouldn’t be who I am today without them.
By September 21, 2024, I took a leap of faith and launched Louisiana Sports—a platform to help kids across the state stay active, stay focused, and stay out of trouble. It wasn’t just about sports. It was about creating opportunity, building confidence, and keeping our youth connected to something greater than themselves.
But my journey hasn’t been perfect. In the final months of 2024, I faced some serious personal challenges and made some mistakes that nearly derailed everything I had worked for. I lost focus. I lost direction. But I never lost faith. I stayed grounded, learned from my setbacks, and surrounded myself with people who still believed in me.
On June 23, 2025, I was officially freed from the troubles that had been holding me back. That moment wasn’t just about relief—it was about redemption. It reminded me that falling down doesn’t mean you’re finished. What matters most is getting back up stronger.
Today, I’m more committed than ever to leading with purpose. I want to inspire kids who feel lost. I want to show them that your past doesn’t define you—your choices do. I may be young, but I’ve lived through real pain, real growth, and real purpose. This is only the beginning.
